Lullaby Project 2019

by Keys to Life Lullaby Project

Twelve lullabies created by incarcerated mothers for their children, with guidance from community music mentors.

The Hiland Mountain Lullaby Project is one of 33 projects sponsored by Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute.

Shirley M. Springer Staten worked with Hiland Superintendent Gloria Johnson and her staff to bring the Lullaby Project to Hiland Mountain Correctional Center for the fourth year in a row. The Lullaby Project experience helped the mothers in prison to heal and bond with their children. These lullabies are more than songs. Each song brings hope to the child, unspoken words from the parents, and possibility of a better life together.
